The artwork of Suzanne Lago
Arthur can best be described as a personal exploration on themes of culture,
identity and environment. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Cuban parents,
Suzanne’s Latin heritage has figured significantly in her artwork both in terms
of subject matter and color. Since relocating to the bucolic countryside of
Northern Virginia, she has found inspiration in pastoral subject matter and has
become a great advocate of “plein air” painting (painting landscapes directly
from life).
Suzanne has exhibited
extensively in both national and international art spaces. Some of her exhibits
include the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Museum of the Americas--both in
Washington D.C, EuroAmerica Gallery in SoHo, New York City and the American
Special Interests Section in Havana, Cuba. Suzanne traveled to Cuba in 2001 by
invitation of the American Special Interests Section and saw for the first time
the land of her ancestors.
