In this painting I was exploring the compositional idea of an still life painting set within an implied interior space (the grey cubby).
A pink satin ribbon leads the eye into this composition containing a yellow garden rose dramatically lite from above. Behind it is a art postcard of Millais’ “Red Riding Hood” painting and because it is of a portrait (of Millais’ daughter), adds a feeling of presence to this composition.
